Congrats to the Twiistup ShowOffs! Twiistup's panel reviewed more than 100 companies, the majority early-stage start-ups, all vying for the opportunity to hold one of ten coveted Showoff spots at Twiistup 5. Known as an event for spotting great talent early, past Twiistup Showoff's include (1) Good Reads, named by Time magazine as a Top Ten Web site; (2) Goowey Media which AOL went on to acquire; and (3) Mint.com, that later won first place at TechCrunch40.
All Showoffs are eligible to win two awards to be announced before midnight on February 12: the prestigious "Fan Favorite," selected by popular vote and the Judges Choice, a new category.
Their judges reviewed more than 100 companies, the majority early-stage start-ups, all vying for the opportunity to hold one of ten coveted Showoff spots at Twiistup 5. Here are their picks:
Causecast

Causecast, dubbed “a one stop philanthropy shop” by TechCrunch, is a platform where media, philanthropy, social networking, entertainment and education converge to serve a greater purpose.
Cogi

Cogi set out with a simple goal – give professionals a way to effortlessly recall and track everything in their important conversations through the use of an intuitive, browser-based service that seamlessly transcribes the important parts of conversation – the ‘COGent Ideas’ or Cogi.
eHow
More than 27 million people visit eHow.com each month to search more than 300,000 articles that are professionally written with clear and concise directions on how to do things. It also has a rapidly-growing library of articles created by eHow’s members and a large library of professional instructional videos.
FixYa

FixYa empowers individuals to repair and improve upon their already-purchased possessions. The company also offers business services to manufacturers and retail businesses through its custom partnership opportunities.
GoGreenSolar

GoGreenSolar is global group of professionals dedicated to improve the distribution of renewable energy products, services and financing for people everywhere.

I somehow managed to miss the "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert in Disney Digital 3D" movie. I do remember some good Vincent Price and "The Fall of the House of Usher" in 3D but it was underwhelming. Most 3D requires custom theaters and custom glasses. Remember Caption EO anyone?
There are more entertainment experience options now than ever before, including bigger screens and more interactivity . One thing I remember most about watching "The Dark Knight" in IMAX a few months ago was the sense of vertigo during some of the epic shots. Good 3D gives that same sense of realism and RealD Pro is making it a reality for the smaller screens.

RealD Pro has released a 3D stereoscopic converter or what they call 'PODs'. The PODs are conversion solutions which upgrade an HDTV to a new stereoscopic display monitor. Now don't get over-excited, they are targeting the scientific market initially. Check out the link to our interview with the president of the company Joshua Greer back in July. |

TechZulu will be live-streaming an interview with Jordan Belfort, former kingpin of the notorious investment firm Stratton Oakmont. He became one of the most infamous names in American finance: a brilliant, conniving stock-chopper who led his merry mob on a wild ride out of the canyons of Wall Street and into a massive office on Long Island.
Now, in his astounding and hilarious tell-all autobiography, The Wolf of Wall Street, Belfort narrates a story of greed, power, and excess no one could invent.
Check out TechZulu’s live interview with Belfort before his book-signing event where he will also be discussing his story, Tuesday at 6pm.
