For details about tonight's coverage, visit the Upcoming event's post here. For those of you that would like to learn more about the Social Media Club organization and what the club is about, check out the Social Media Club homepage. This is a nationwide organization and Jackie Peters, from Heavybag Media, put together last month's Social Media Club LA Chapter's first meeting. Here's the brief intro about the Social Media Club that is referenced directly from the organization's site: "Social Media Club is being organized for the purpose of sharing best practices, establishing ethics and standards, and promoting media literacy around the emerging area of Social Media. This is the beginning of a global conversation about building an organization and a community where the many diverse groups of people who care about social media can come together to discover, connect, share, and learn." The third stop of the SummerMash US tour took place right here in our own backyards last week. That’s right, SummerMash hit the Los Angeles tech scene last Friday night at the Rubicon Project’s Headquarters in West LA. It was a busy week, full of events for the LA crowd, but SummerMash brought in over 600 people from the LA tech, entertainment, and digital communities ready to party.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without tech superstars making an appearance. We caught up with Mashable’s very own Pete Cashmore and Karen Hartline. When asked what stood out on the LA stop of the tour compared to other cities, Cashmore mentioned the ambiance of the venue and the glam of the city brought in by the media and entertainment industries.
Mashable also partnered with the Schwaggin Wagon to donate unused, unwanted schwag to a good cause. All schwag and cash donations received at the event went to benefit Operation Gratitude.
Cashmore also mentioned they wanted to do this tour to connect with the emerging tech scenes across the nation. Other stops on the tour include Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, Miami, Boston, and NYC. |
