Written by Efren Toscano
Tuesday, 23 March 2010 09:01
Sprint announced today that they are bringing 4G to seven new WiMAX markets one of which is LA.  SXSW in Austin, TX has just ended and almost our entire LA Tech community attended, and I hope most had a chance to experience 4G WiMAX availability.  Going from 3G's 600 kbps to 4G's 6 Mbps is absolutely eye opening on what is going to be possible within the Mobile space.  So I say Let AT&T and Verizon fight about their map coverage I want my uncapped 4G service! Here is the press release with …

Socurio-homepageGuest post by Graeme Thickins of Tech Surf Blog At a recent Club Entrepreneur lunch in downtown Minneapolis, I had the opportunity to meet one of the cofounders of a unique startup. The name of that cofounder was Ion Skillrud, shown at right in the photo.  The name of his startup is Socurio, which is a new kind of "creative marketplace and community for fine art."  I learned his cofounder, Sasha Koehn (left in the photo), was based in LA.  I thought there must be an interesting story here, and …

Written by Efren Toscano
Friday, 19 March 2010 09:07
Last week I caught up with Albert Ko founder of DealPerk which is a new web site that launched for the Orange County community.  Similar to Groupon, Dealperk gives you a Perk (Deal) a day at a very inexpensive price.  Take today's deal for instance.  Get 5 ice cream bars from BoardWalk Ice Cream Co. at Irvine Spectrum for only $10.  Normally it would cost you $20, however there is a catch to get this deal.  A certain number of people must sign-up and buy the perk for the deal to be available.  F…
