Mix Recap – Windows Mobile 6.5 Update
Written by Geoffrey Emery
Monday, 23 March 2009 08:11
After the windows mobile session at MIX09 these are the key things that I gathered. 1. No more honeycomb - users didn't like it. The Start menu icons will still be aligned in a staggered grid, but they won't have the border. 2. The Zune-like Today screen can be navigated by sliding the selector...thus moving it up and down, or by sliding the background, thus keeping the selector stationary. 3. According to the presentation, the Marketplace will be launched in September or October. 4.…

YouTube is launching its own native Windows Mobile application. An application for YouTube has been available on many HTC devices for some time now, but a native application from the video service maker itself will bring videos to more devices. The mobile version is optimized for either 3G cellular data or WiFi and is reported to start up faster.
According to MobileBurn, users can point their mobile browsers to m.youtube.com to download.

Google is claiming their new application is up to 90% faster for starting up, searching and loading videos.

Sunday, 22 March 2009 10:17
jamiewebmsgrWeb Messenger, expected as part of the Wave 3 update to Windows Live Hotmail but only seen in fits and starts, appears to be making a comeback.  We spotted Web Messenger in December, only to discover that we were still hosted on dogfood servers after a preview we were privy to for the Wave 3 release.  Then Web Messenger made another appearance for some users, although that didn’t last long either. Now we’re getting reports that Web Messenger is returning, although we’re not seeing it here as of…
