Angry Birds, new levels, great replay value
Retail & Consumers

Recently, Rovio released a new version of its hit $0.99 game, Angry Birds for the iPhone. If you're unfamiliar with the game, it works like this: A race of pigs has stolen the eggs of several bird species. So what's a bird to do? Get revenge, of course, by sling-shotting each other across vast distances through the pigs' fortified castles.

The animations and sounds for the game are what's expected from an iPhone game, cute and cartoony. The gameplay is where this title really shines.

So far, the game has been released with more than 100 levels spread across six episodes, all part of the original $0.99 purchase. Sling-shotting the birds is intuitive and challenging. The variety of the different kinds of birds one can sling shot adds a little strategy to the game, though the birds you get to sling-shot are pre-determined for each level. Too bad the game doesn't let the player select the birds to shoot, allowing players to beat different levels in different ways.

Still, given the 60-plus hours my girlfriend and I have put into this one, the price and replay value can't be beat.
