Ankit Headphones Comfy, Bass-y
Retail & Consumers

At CES, there were headphones a-plenty. From big-name brands like Shure and Etymotic to the little guys. Well, I found one of the little guys, and came away very impressed with their product. The name's Ankit, a comapny which puts out decorative (if somewhat sexual) headphones that claim to pump out extra bass with "g-bass technology." At CES, the company gave me a pair of their "Naughty Naughty" headphones to take home, try out, and review.

My thoughts? The bass put out by these headphones is excellent. Whether it's hip hop or classical, Star Wars or Braveheart, these dongles in my ears made content sound good. The sound quality? On par for a pair of $50 headphones (they retail for $49.99); they weren't quite up to Shure or Etymotic's level, but work well as a middle ground between the junky earbuds from Apple and those premium brands. Ankit claims that the headphones are "ergonomic," i.e. they're bent to go in my ear without falling out. Still, while running, or even walking at a good pace, the headphones didn't stay. Next, and more important for me, were the earbud tips.  I'm not sure what audiophiles call them, but the gels tips that are supposed to fit into ones ears never seem to fit me. Ankit's soft earbud tips fit well and didn't make my ears sore after prolonged use. What about the negatives? There are a couple, depending on your point of view. First, the pair I received were decorated with brown teddy bears and a blue paw print. On one hand, this offends my masculinity. On the other hand, anyone who sees them usually wants them, guys and girls.
