Call For Start-ups! Twiistup 6 is Now Accepting Showoffs
Social News

With fresh blood injected into Twiistup, expect to see some amazing overhaul. For starters, because the event has gotten so large they had to move it from a 15,000 square foot hanger in Santa Monica to a 23,000 Square foot space at the Universal Hilton. On top of that it's expanding from a one day party to a two day event. One full day of Awesome speakers, and from what I hear they are A list speakers ranging from Super Star Entertainment status to Super Business Entrepreneurial status. A little something for everyone.

Check out the press release before for more info:

Innovative Start-ups Wanted for Twiistup 6 Geek-chic SoCal tech event opens call for Showoffs Los Angeles, CA - May 19, 2009 - Twiistup, Southern California's premier event showcasing innovation and connecting professionals from the worlds of technology, media and entertainment, invites startups to apply for 10 free 'Showoff' slots at Twiistup 6 starting today. Twiistup 6 takes place on Thursday and Friday, July 30 and 31, 2009 at the Universal Hilton in Universal City, Calif. Showoffs at Twiistup have the chance to gain exposure and visibility in front of a mix of investors, entrepreneurs and other influencers in the tech/media industry. This year, a panel will select 10 entrants based on qualities including:
- contribution to technology, innovation and entrepreneurship
- value and appeal
- originality and inspirational or thought-provoking content

Winners will be selected in two rounds, the first ending June 12 and the last on June 26, with preferential consideration given to applications received before the round one deadline. Twiistup recently announced an expanded agenda that adds a full day program to the established evening showcase, giving Showoff companies significantly more exposure. "Sponsors are paying thousands of dollars for space that we're giving to
Showoffs for free," said event producer Francisco Dao. "If you're a startup who wants exposure there's no reason not to throw your hat in the ring." Having outgrown all of its previous venues Twiistup 6 moves to the Universal Hilton where it will occupy over 23,000 square feet of space. Showoff companies will be selected by a panel of the following five judges established in the world of technology and media:

  • Brady Brim-DeForest - Serial entrepreneur, Founder of the
International Academy of Web Television, co-founder of Tubefilter.
  • Neil Patel - Angel Investor, Co-founder of Crazy Egg and KISSmetrics
  • Brian Solis - Author of Now is Gone and Putting the Public Back in Public
Relations, Publisher of PR 2.0 and bub.blicio.us, Founder of Future Works
PR, and Strategic Advisor to Fortune 500 businesses and startups
  • Mark Suster - GRP Partners, venture capital. Former VP Product Mgmt
    Salesforce.com & 2-time CEO and entrepreneur
  • Andrew Warner - Founder, Mixergy.com. Former CEO of Bradford & Reed.

Companies interested in entering for one of the 10 featured Showoff spots can apply on the Twiistup Web site at www.twiistup.com/call-for-showoffs/.
