At the Inland Empire .NET User's Group's Most Valuable Member Program (MVM), Matt Penner presented on the source control engine, SubVersion. Matt sits down with TechZulu to explain some of the finer points of SubVersion, and how developers using it to control their code can be spared some of the problems that can arise when working in a large team with off site developers. VSS is a popular source control tool amongst .NET developers, but Matt challenges those users to step beyond Microsoft products to help manage their code. Matt has been using SubVersion for the last 3 years, and continues to use it in his daily .NET development.

INETA (International .NET Association - www.ineta.org) provides structured, peer-based organizational, educational, and promotional support to the growing worldwide community of Microsoft .NET user groups.  INETA offers assistance and resources to .NET community groups around the globe. INETA is the next evolution of user group communities; a non-profit, independent organization, chartered with supporting all user groups interested in the Microsoft .NET platform. Mike Vincent, board member and Secretary of INETA North America, sits down with TechZulu to speak about his presentation at the Inland Empire .NET Users Group MVM Program. Mike presented on two new exciting languages to the .NET tool box, IronPython and IronRuby. Both IronPython and IronRuby are dynamic languages that can be leveraged by .NET developers to produce applications that perform at speeds that greatly surpass their predecessors. On top of the speed benefits, both IronPython and IronRuby are open source and can be run through Silverlight. If used with the open source adaptation of Silverlight, Moonlight, both IronPython and IronRuby can be used in a Linux environment.

Paul Chu, a 7 year .NET veteran, and founder of the SoCal .NET Nuke User Group (www.socaldug.org) sits down with TechZulu at the Inland Empire .NET User's Group's Most Valuable Member Program (MVM) awards to discuss the value of user groups and the benefits they offer to the average .NET developer. In the past, Paul has presented information on subsonic, a .NET code generation tool, to the Inland Empire User's Group. Paul believes that participation in user groups like the IE .NET UG and the SoCal .NET Nuke UG are a valuable resource in a developer's arsenal. He believes that user groups like these help get developers out of their offices and into situations where they can openly share their problems and solutions, while encouraging networking between developers. User group participants can help developers pick up on the latest trends in .NET and other Microsoft based technologies or in some cases it can lead to new job opportunities.
