How is that done? This year the hub of security will be focused around a Microsoft Surface computer. Along with partners, Microsoft has provided a way to display a Virtual Earth map of the event including any security incidents, resource allocation and tasks in real-time via the multi-touch table. With a simple gesture, authorities can zoom in and out of a 3D model of Tampa, and even communicate with remote devices and PCs. I don't know about you, but I love the surface technology. It is really freaking cool. One of my friends at Microsoft recently told me when they originally came up with the idea at MSR that they went out to ikea and bought a table and cut a whole to start. But enough with the reminiscing.

Credit goes to Microsoft, E-SPONDER, and Infusion for developing the Surface security solution. E-SPONDER provides a portal for reporting and coordinating incidents and its the data from this portal, in combination with the Falcon Eye technology developed by Infusion.(demo here), that will allow security personnel to see and coordinate emergency responses using Microsoft Surface at and around the big game.

Additionally, Twisted Pair Solutions, Inc. will provide secure, real-time group communications and interoperability for two-way radio systems and other devices using its WAVE software technology. Fully integrated with E•SPONDER and leveraging Microsoft’s Office Communications
Server platform, all law enforcement personnel can quickly see who is available and communicate with them using Instant Messaging,
PC to PC Voice, video conferencing and PC-to radio/walkie-talkie methods. This unmatched capability, being used largely in the defense
and first responder fields, allows for any user of E•SPONDER to immediately communicate with resources not only in the command center,
but directly in the field.
