Relive CES: Mobile Excitement, Going Green and Audio Galore
Science & Technology
Written by Efren Toscano

Granted that this years CES was not jammed packed, and the ability to grab a cab was but a snap away, all excitement was not lost.  Going green, iPhone Killers, high quality audio, and huge micro SD cards were a few that really stood out.  2009 is definitely going to be one of the biggest go green years the world will come to know.  Solar energy will just about power everyone of our geek gadgets, from cell phones to full entertainment systems.  A few companies on the green side that really stood out to me was Fuji EnviroMax and Powerfilm Inc.

I always love it when the big boys play nice and help the environment.  Fuji has developed eco-friendly alkaline batteries they are completely cadmium, mercury, and pvc free.  Most of us

never even give a thought to how batteries are made or what harm they can do to our environment once they are discarded.  Knowing that these batteries will just break down and go right back into the soil without harming the environment is always a plus.

Powerfilm Inc. is just about powering every device no matter how big or small you have.  Ranging from fold-able solar chargers to solar field shelters that are able to produce up to 2 kilowatts of power.  Developing and manufacturing of thin, flexible solar panels based on a proprietary low cost production process is what their aim is.

Of course there can't be an electronic expo without a purposed iphone killer.

The Palm Pre most definitely had to be one of the biggest talks of CES.  You can view our previous post here about the Palm Pre.  We will also post up an up close walk-through of the device soon.

Walking upper South Hall you could not turn a corner without bumping into premium headphones.  There were tons but a few that stood out were Skullcandy,  Shure, and V-Moda.  Skullcandy gets a 10 for presentation. There was no way anybody that walked by that booth could resist the urge to walk in.  If Race cars, and energy drinks weren't enough to bring you in how about some coconut shaped headphones?  They Announced their Skullcandy Stack headphones that contain twin drivers with about 250mm total driver capacity, individual volume and tone controls for each ear.  We'll have a full interview with each company up soon.

SD announcing its massive micro SD card that can literally turn your mobile phone into media centers.  SDXC allows users to enjoy more from their mobile phones. Larger capacity and faster transfer speeds allow for expanded entertainment and data storage. A 2TB SDXC memory card can store 100 HD movies, 60 hours of HD recording or 17,000 fine-grade photos.
