Goko, a new HTML5 games company based in Redwood City California is set to help game developers easily distribute and monetize social games. Goko was founded by Ted Griggs as CEO and Kevin Binkley as CTO.
Goko is backed by Redpoint Ventures and Aslop Louie Partners from whom it raised raised $8m in Series A funding.
Who doesn’t like to save a little dough on texting? Well for those with limited texting plans anyway. The Hallo app from Developer Hallo, Inc. will allow you to do just that and much more. Compatible with the iOS and Android Hallo allows you to send quick voice messages privately to individuals and groups or publicly to followers within the app as well as to Facebook and Twitter.
Viddy, called by many as the new Twitter, but for video, had a #splashmob this weekend at Santa Monica Beach. They partnered with Uber to drive people to and from the event. Google has confirmed it firing 20 percent of Motorola Mobility employees. A company it bought in May.
The company will also close a third of its offices worldwide. According to Google’s SEC filing on the 3rd this month and signed on the 13th 2012 Google will go ahead with and reduce the motorola unit’s 20,000 employees by 4,000 with two thirds of the cut in the US.
AT&T announced their own Mobile Share plans this morning. Customers will soon have more options in choosing the plan that’s right for them and their mobile devices. With new AT&T Mobile Share plans, available in late August, new and existing customers can share a single bucket of data across smartphones, tablets, and other compatible devices.
Marissa Mayer has started work at Yahoo! as CEO and Member of the Board of Directors.
Her appointment is expected to spice things up at Yahoo, once a top internet and media firm. She is expected to champion for new products and advance its web technology.This might revive Yahoo’s leading properties like Yahoo! Mail ,Yahoo! Search, Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Sports and Yahoo! Mobile
Google has from late last year embarked on an in-house cleaning project. The giant search engine is set to end less used products or combining a number of them into more resourceful ones.
In November 2011, Google’s spring clean saw a number of services shut down like Knol, Friend Connect and Google Wave. This added the number of services closed or combined to thirty and as usual paving way for superior ones
