Textaholic Much? What’s Your New Years Resolution?

I am a tech enthusiast, early adopter and am fully addicted to my iPhone.  The industrial design, the sounds, the feel of the touchscreen.  I love that I can be everywhere and nowhere at the same time and with the swipe of a finger can plugin and connect with anyone.  After watching the video for AT&T’s Texting Can Wait PSA Campaign I am reminded that if I want to continue loving my phone I must know when to put it down.

I spend a ton of time on the roads here in Southern California and am constantly reminded how many people either do not know the dangers of texting while driving or just plainly don’t care.  Again I reitterate that I am constantly on my phone, but cannot tell you the last time I got a message that could not wait.  I cannot tell you the last time I got a message, email, txt or tweet that if not answered IMMEDIATELY the whole world would stop.  I can however, after watching this video, point to a few worlds that did stop after trying to answer one.  I hope that all who see this actually take a minute to reflect on the question: Is it worth it?  Is whatever is coming across your screen worth the life of yourself or even worse the life of another.

My goal is not to preach but rather remind you as we enter the New Year that we all have a lot to be thankful for.  We all have many things we should change to become better for ourselves and the people around us.  One thing that needs be added to our New Years resolutions should be taking the time to realize, nothing on your phone cannot wait till you stop driving!
