Foodme.com | I am Hungry and Want a Deal NOW!

John Delacruz and his startup Foodme.com presented a Twiistup 8 and was almost as impressive as the mini cupcakes at their booth.  The startup fills a need in the market by connecting restaurants to patrons in real time.

Instead of buying a Groupon-esque coupon to be used at a future date, Foodme.com provides realtime deals in your area.  Lunch time at the office?  Login, see what restaurants in your area are offering for coupons now, this lunch time.

The Twiistup judges brought up some good concerns with regard to off peak hour deals and which restaurants would really want to opt in during these hours.  Delacruz says some local Pasadena restaurants are offering up to 50% off the meal price for beta users of Foodme.com

I think this startup absolutely has a place and answers a need in the market.  Rumor has it they just received some funding from Idealab’s New Venture Group but an exact amount is still unknown.

Would you use Foodme.com?  Would real time deals change where you decided to go eat at that moment?
