We know what it is to love our jobs, we spend the whole day in office and don’t want to leave. But there are friends who seem to hate every minute that goes buy during their working hours.
Now a new startup called LifeSwap wants to end that frustration.
Explore Great Companies & Jobs
LifeSwap is a new way for great people to explore great companies and jobs. LifeSwap says that you can explore another company for 2-3 hours, meet current employees, see what the day-to-day is like, and – most importantly – get a feel for the place.
The team from Stanford say,
“We have found that many people make uninformed career decisions, mainly because they are limited to superficial resources or time-intensive internships. Wish you could get a behind-the-scenes, inside glimpse in a company? LifeSwap makes that possible.”
Employers Vetted, No Rude Boss
You won’t be disappointed if you decided to make the swap.
The team at LifeSwap say,’We personally vet every single company on our site, so you can be sure this is the best of the best. Similarly, we employ a rigorous screening process for applicants, to make sure that it’s mutually beneficial for guest and host to get to know each other.”
LifeSwap Is Not A Job, Just An Experience
They add that the process is not an interview to get you a job though it might. ‘It is just a chance to meet the interesting and passionate people who work at a company you might be interested in, and to see what it’s like to be in their shoes.” Sounds good?
Now before you ask who these crazy guys are. LifeSwap is an idea by a team of Stanford students who have lived in 11 countries and have a personal passion for fostering relationships between people who can help each other.
They are Janmaat Bastiaan, co-founder , from Netherlands but born in Japan, grew up in Singapore, worked in renewable energy investing in London’s Goldman office, and then made his way to California for an MBA at Stanford.
Jack Dubie, Co-founder comes from Vermont and is a Stanford CS undergrad and co-term.
Alden Timme, Co-founder and a prospective PhD. He hails from Stanford’s CS program, and is playing a major role in building the startups online product.
Mike Dorsey, Co-founder and advisor, originally from Texas, couldn’t decide between Stanford’s MBA program and its stellar CS courses, so enrolled in both and is a member of the d. school faculty at Stanford University and the founder of the investment firm Harrison Metal.
Real Life; Not Virtual
The guys at LifeSwap want you to join 3-5 other exemplary companies and motivated individuals in a 2-4 hour immersion, in person, at a great company you curious about.
Walk in, meet the employees, have lunch or a coffee, tour the office, and sit at a desk working like you belong there just so you get a taste of that company in real life.
LifeSwap wants you to experience a whole different life and a new passion in a career you might be interested in. The team say that people can and should be able to explore their passions, make life decisions based on that to enable them to have a more fulfilled and productive carrer. Therefore for 2-4 hours or a weeklong swap or what the host sees as practical you can swap and enjoy.
LifeSwap is currently focused on the Bay Area, but is expecting to expand nationally and internationally soon and they are getting more jobs on board for us to choose from.
