Some of you no doubt watched TechPunch’s “The Real CES: Day One,” where Enrique Gutierrez (@nrek) and I took on the CES show floor and show-cased some pretty laughable products. Between Central hall and South Hall, Enrique and I found mp3 players with 1-inch screens (it displayed E-books!) and Cansonic camcorders. We thought CES couldn’t get any more peculiar.

Then we visited North Hall. Yes, there were some gems like (more) iPod and iPhone cases, but we focused on a little area in the back that wasn’t getting much attention. For lack of a better term, it was the international section where manufacturers from countries like Korea, China and Japan were able to promote their products.

What did we find? Batteries, batteries and more batteries. At least Steve Jobs’ avatar made an appearance.
