Corporate sustainability is now being seen as a moral imparative. GreenNurture is the maker of an application that helps employees contribute to the sustainability for their employers.  Based on the popularity of rewards systems and social networking of late, GreenNurture gives people incentives to help save energy and precious resources.

GreenNurture has the ability for its users to watch their companies become greener as time goes by.  It does so by using 30 variables which analyze how people go about their day at work.  In turn, GreenNurture detects shifts in company culture and environmental practices.  The GreenNurture app allows everyone to participate. It provides a forum for whole staffs to make recommendations for how to reduce energy costs and limit company carbon footprints.

With the rewards system being powered by RecycleBank, the core system encourages all employees to make changes in the right direction.  Employees earn points which they can then cash in for goods and services.  GreenNurture currently offers a free 30-day trial for those who want to give it a go.

TechZulu had a chance to catch up with CEO Derrick Mains.  Derrick discusses how companies today are not utilizing their human capital to help the company become more green.  What it takes to be a DEMO presenter. We also get a sneak peek of their new iPhone app which will be available in the coming weeks.

GreenNurture is trying to sell to businesses with 10 to 10,000 employees, and it’s already in talks with a number of larger companies, universities and municipalities for wide deployment.  They have raised an angel round of funding so far.  I’m wiling to bet we will be seeing GreenNurture around for quite some time.  What do you think? Should companies have their employees help make them greener?  Would you participate in a program such as this?  Leave your comments below.
