Mindshare: Truthfully Enlightened

Mindshare truthfully went from high enlightenment that started with Genya Frankel / Bio-Physicist, from CalTech who spoke about the experiments of Benjamin Franklin and the intellectual gatherings he was involved in during the Age of Enlightenment; Gully Burns / Neuroinformatics Research Scientist, USC / ISI  spoke about “The Art of Truth” and the intricacies of objectivity vs. subjectivity. After some more short talks on design and branding by Anna Agapiou and Adam Meffordthe, the flavor turned more towards the debauchery of the mind with Satine Phoenix / Fetish Model, Adult Film Star, & Artist who spoke about her experience with sex, from the video vs. reality standpoint. Finally, the evening was capped with Joe Fox, an escape artist and member of LA’s Magic Castle club. He hammered nails into his nose and then inserted a condom in his nostril and promptly coughed it out of his mouth (he had to leave shortly afterward because “the condom trick always makes my sinuses hurt”. After the talks, the fun continued with the live music from Proton Radio’s own DJs, open bar, catered Thai food and tech experiments on display in the space by Mindshare’s tech team: Chris Hughes and Chris Nelson. This month they were showcasing laser pointer graffiti interface!

What I’ve noticed so far with the Mindshare events, is that not only are they trying to build the tech community but also bring in all communities in the Southern California area together and possibly collaborate in ways they may have never thought possible. Mindshare is ever evolving and bringing bigger and better things to the table on the third Thursday of every month. I was told they have much in store for the coming events and have lots of tricks up their sleeve to accomplish their main goal – to bring people from radically different backgrounds together and to promote cross-inspiration.
