SendSocial: No Address, No Problem

Sending out a package is always a hassle and especially when you don’t know the recipients address.  SendSocial wants to make the shipping process just a little bit easier by removing the address equation out of the problem.  As long as you know their Twitter ID or email address you are golden, and SendSocial will handle the rest by sending the recipient a request for their address.

It asks using Twitter or email, whether they want to receive the package and, if they do, where they want it delivered. SendSocial does use the Verisign system so all the information provided is stored securely.  The sender is then given a barcode that they can print out and place on the package.  All the while never revealing the address details of the recipient to the sender.

Currently SendSocial is only available in the UK, however they are working on expanding out to other area’s as well.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten someones address, I can hardly remember my own every no and then.  So I can definitely see something like this taking off and booming quickly.  Although SendSocial is targeted toward social media users currently, this is a mainstream problem and can catch on fast.  Would you use a service like this?  Do you even have an address book or contact list with addresses in them or are they filled with just email and other social contact information?
