Social Network ‘Gigmor’ Connects Musicians for Jam Sessions
Finding the right musicians to perform with at clubs, special events, festivals, and concerts has never been easy for bandleaders, or even skilled industry pros, since there are so many variables such as location, experience and skill level, and knowledge of musical repertoire. Gigmor intends to reinvent the ways in which musicians and bands are connected with paid gigging opportunities and the way industry talent buyers discover new talent through its social network for musicians, bands and industry talent buyers
“Until now, talent bookers relied upon word of mouth or their network of contacts, while musicians went to Craigslist to find paying gigs and other players,” says David Baird, founder and CEO of Santa Monica-based Gigmor, whose background as a former AOL technology executive and semi-pro musician inspired him to streamline how musicians find other players and gigs.
“The Gigmor network removes all the inconvenience, hassle and cost associated with this outdated process. Musicians register online and identify their skills, background, interests, musical genres, and location, so they can be easily matched with compatible players and industry professionals. Plus our unique social media features allow them to engage with the community as well as posting music, photos and videos.”
Says Baird, “We created a proprietary algorithm similar to those used by dating sites to create harmonious musical matches. We also have a robust search engine used by professional talent bookers to find bands that meet their criteria (and eventually consumers to find musicians for birthdays, weddings, other events). Gigmor, does all the heavy lifting by providing the perfect formula for musical compatibility. Our goal is to revolutionize how live music is booked.” Gigmor’s team includes highly respected music industry veterans with decades of experience in representing musical talent, booking live acts, and pioneering digital music.
The website has 40,000 registered users and has generated 150,000 matches connecting musicians, bands and industry pros, Baird is now introducing the Gigmor Jams event feature, a revolutionary new way for bands and musicians to create and manage jam sessions and musical meet-ups. On June 20th, Gigmor will host a “Gigmor Jams” LA event at The Mint, featuring some of LA’s top session players who will serve as a backing band for emerging Gigmor artists. Each participant will be booked via the Gigmor platform’s event feature. The event is open to the public.
