Inspire Talk BoxWith graduation already here and Father’s Day almost upon us again this year, thoughts of what to get for dads and grads is on our minds once again. For those who are athletically inclined, have an active lifestyle or even just a tech geek, the Yurbuds IronMan Inspire Talk Sport Earphones with Inline Microphone are a gift worth considering.

Yurbuds Inspire Talk

This microphone headset comes with specially designed earbud horns which are supposed to “twist and lock in place.”  (Yurbuds TwistLock support page)

Testing it out, they do fit rather snugly once you’ve practiced getting them in a few times and actually stay in place when going for an extended run down at the park. Also, the specialized rubber insert holds the earbuds in place, regardless of sweat whereas other brands may slip off with perspiration.

Sound quality has been quite crystal clear with 15mm speakers. This was tested through a standard 3.5mm (1/8″) jack both for making calls and listening to music from an LG Optimus G Pro as well as for Skype and Google+ Hangouts from a Lenovo Thinkpad. It’s a one-button microphone that allows you to start/pause a song with one click, skip to the next track with two clicks and start over from the beginning with three clicks.

Let’s talk about build. These sports earphones have proven themselves to be pretty rugged. Sheepishly, I’ll admit that I wasn’t paying attention as I was getting out of my car and slammed the door on these headphones. Half stayed in the car and the other half ripped out from the phone in my pocket. Other less quality brands would have been shredded to pieces or have the electrical cords pulled out. Thankfully, the Yurbuds came out just fine.

Priced at $40, these headphones are slightly pricier than other available options but the quality is worth it. Why keep buying two or three cheaper headsets when you can simply buy one that works?
