Digital LA: Games Go Hollywood Live
This week TechZulu will be streaming Digital LA’s Games Go Hollywood panel live June 10, 2010 from 8-9:30pm PST. Join us and Digital LA for a pre-E3 panel on Games Go Hollywood! Prince of Persia is the latest game to go big at the box office. And more and more games like Uncharted 2, Assassin’s Creed 2, and Call of Duty are inspired by movies’ cinematic angles and storytelling.
Join us for our panel discussion on these trends. Expert panelists will discuss:
– Best practices in making a video game based on a movie, and making movies based on games: development, timing, story, art and more
– How to ensure game makers and movie makers are communicating effectively, especially changes in game play, art, story, etc:
– Can video games make you cry? Movies touch audiences emotionally with thrills and tears. Games can do thrills – but what about tears to broaden their reach? Should they try?
– How games can learn from movie-style marketing techniques and movies can learn to market to core gamers via media, social media, etc.
Scheduled panelists include:
– Jim Veevaert, Jerry Bruckheimer Games, President of Production; formerly at Microsoft, Executive Producer of Halo 3. Also developed Gears of War, Viva Pinata
– Garrett Young, Disney Interactive Studios, Director, Internal Development
– Ben McCaw, video game writer on Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands for the Wii, DS, and PSP. Member of WGA Video Game Writer’s Caucus
