Since the early 1980’s Donkey Kong has been a staple in the Nintendo family constantly growing with the times.  This year at E3 Expo 2010 Nintendo announced the return of Donkey Kong with Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii.  I had a chance to play it in the Nintendo booth during E3 and let me tell you, if you loved the Super Nintendo version you will adore this one.  It was really fun to play and the enhanced graphics really gave the Donkey Kong Country world a great look.

Picking up Donkey Kong Country Returns and playing it was a breeze and virtually no learning curve.  From the beginners to the most advanced players will have a good time playing it if you are a fan of the series.  Although, still a side-scrolling platform game trying to get the characters from start to finish, there are lots of new upgrades that Donkey Kong Country Returns has received which definitely enhance the gameplay.

New levels is a given but the ability for the Diddy to shoot peanuts when on Donkey’s back is an added bonus.  So now you don’t have to hurl your companion at the enemy as a means of defense anymore.  Diddy has his jetpack in the game, giving him the ability to fly over hard to jump areas.  They Also gave both characters the ability to do the ground pound.  Which is fun to do because you have to do the motion with the Wii remote and nunchuck to make it happen.

Overall it was a fun game to play and fans of the DKC series will enjoy this one.  The release date for Donkey Kong Country Returns is November 1, 2010.
