At its release,  email was heralded as the best thing since the facsimile aka the fax machine. Well email may be the savior of the Western world’s time, but like all great inventions of the last century, it could use a little help. DueToDos is a web based business productivity platform that seeks to save you time and increase efficiency whether you’re solo or on a team.

Developed one year ago, by cofounder Chase Rief, who came up with the idea for the platform when he was managing 15 employees stashed in different corners of the world.  Rief, a marketing and communications brand strategist , was getting correspondence on all kinds of devices and needed an easier way to track and follow up with e-mails. Enter Duetodos, primarily designed for those who are heavy email users, probably on a team and likely have lots of follow up. The web platform creates an outgoing “to do list” for your emails and it helps you follow up with all the single tasks and items that you send out. This part is significant because if no one ever responded you probably wouldn’t remember them.

Here’s how it works.  Once you’ve signed up with the service, type out an email as you normally would, if it’s something you need to follow up on bcc tasks@duetodos.com and your registered email address will automatically set this task up for follow up in the dashboard of the platform at DuetoDos.com

Cofounder, Chris Van Dusen says the platform is currently in beta testing with a little more than 300 users testing out it’s functionality, and the majority of those using its bcc function.  DueToDos, is a full featured web based utility where users can also assign and track tasks, manage users on their team, receive web notifications, and daily activity summaries.

The real question is whether or not it’s really that simple to use.  After I received my invite and log in I try it out. The user interface is smooth and simple with colors that aren’t too flashy or obtrusive. Simple is better in this case and each of the tabs are straight forward and pretty self-explanatory.  Everything in the site worked without any considerable lag or failure. The support button link is currently disabled, however there is a feedback button located at the top of the page.  After loading up a few test messages, the ease and functionality of the site are pretty clear. It is definitely built for users who need information quickly and at a glance. There aren’t a ton of pages to flip through or any crazy search combinations needed to quickly retrieve or access information either.  Although, I would like a search box somewhere on the page, after I’ve filled up my dashboard with pages of tasks I needed to sort though.

Van Dusen, says that they are working hard to add new features (search will come in next release) and plan to roll them out with their next round of beta testers.  Using the platform is free for now although Van Dusen says the company will be trying different subscription models in the future as well as the labeling service for businesses.

Overall, DueToDos is a way to stay productive beyond the confines of the office or cubicle. Now, you’re a mobile warrior, as handy with your information in the field as you are in that leather desk chair. It lets you organizes the 2001 tasks you need to do alone or with your team in a pretty simple and organized fashion. DueToDos is letting the first 200 people cut in the best testing line that sign up at http://duetodos.com/techzulu
