A venture capitalist recently asked me to help him find another Frank Addante, founder of The Rubicon Project. VCs love Frank because he’s bankable. He has a history of launching big Web successes, including L90, which went public and then was bought by DoubleClick in 2001. Plus he’s “a force of nature”, as Sumant Mandal of Clearstone described him to me. Most entrepreneurs seem to lose their edge after their first big success, but Frank’s always at his desk, out with clients or meeting new people.

I can’t help VCs find another Frank, but I recently had a chance to sit down with him to learn how he got where he is. In this interview, Frank and I talked about his past 5 businesses and what he’s doing to make this one his biggest success yet.
