Moonlight 1.0 brings Silverlight to Linux

The first public release of Moonlight, which provides a Linux client implementation of Microsoft’s Silverlight rich Internet application (RIA) technology, was made available this week.

Silver Light Recently Streamed the official Presidential Inauguration of President Barack Obama  With Over 50,000 viewers using Linux installed Moonlight To Watch it.

The installation is a plugin

In order to watch streaming you have to install Microsoft’s proprietary multimedia codecs, which are used for streaming video content, and arenot bundled with the plugin. When the user visits a web page that requires the codecs, Moonlight will launch a codec installation utility that can automatically download the codec binaries from Microsoft and install them on the user’s system.
