SoundCloud Hits 180 million Users Revamps Portal & Opens To The Public

Next SoundCloud has launched to the public in a move that will allow lovers of music across the world to discover and connect with the largest community of music and audio creators online.

The world’s leading social sound platform said Next SoundCloud is out in private beta and open for public use as the world’s only platform of the kind.

Only Platform Of Its Kind

Speaking during the launch of the Next SoundCloud Alexander Ljung, founder and CEO of SoundCloud said, “There’s no other platform out there that lets everyone get so close to such a diverse community of music and audio creators.”

Ljung added  “From today, ‘Next’ is now simply SoundCloud. It’s a platform for people to discover new, original music and audio, for creators to build audiences, and for everyone to share what they hear whether online or on mobile.”

Eric Wahlforss, founder and CTO said the platform is great after revamping it following feedback from the community during the beta release.

Wahlforss said;“Everything’s new: much more than an aesthetic redesign, the latest SoundCloud is a state-of-the-art, re-engineered platform that feels so different from before and offers an even better music and audio experience.”

Aesthetic Redesign

The revamped platform now open to the public gives its users the opportunity to explore a world of original music and audio content, as well as to connect and share with the largest community of artists, bands, podcasters, and other sound creators.”

Launched in 2008 by Alexander Ljung and Eric Wahlforss, the social sound platform gives users open access to a global community of original music and audio creators. Music creators use the platform to record, upload and share sounds across the internet, and among their fans for feedback.

Reaches 8%  Entire Internet Population

According to SoundCloud, each minute creators post over 10 hours of music and audio on the platform  now boasting of  over 180 million users, an 8 percent of the entire internet population monthly.

Next SoundCloud first opened into private beta May this year with awesome new features which the firm claims have seen engagement increase over 30 percent than the previous version.

Discover new and original sounds:Is a feature to help users discover new users and new music and audio on the platform. It also has an improved search, related sounds suggestions, and Continuous Play encourage users to discover and listen more online.

Connect with sound creators:  The new Facebook sign-up  allows new users to find their Facebook friends on the platform and also helps them find music and audio creators who inspire them. The Facebook Connect  also helps creators build and reach their audience and the wider SoundCloud community.

Share what you hear: This allows users to curate sounds they like in a single waveform, and repost to friends, fans and followers easily and also find their favorite sounds with real-time notifications when one comments or reposts.

Mobile: Mobile users will from December 6 also enjoy reposts, use mobile search, and have updates on both iOS and Android.

SoundCloud’s community is huge.  The platform has artists, producers and organisations as sound creators such as Cyra Morgan, the Deftones band, The Economist news, Big Boi, comedians like John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman of The Bugle and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, 99% Invisible and artists like John Legend among others inspiring their followers.
