TechZulu Live Episode 10

This week on TechZulu Live we had special guest Brittany Laughlin of Gtrot.  Gtrot makes it really easy for college students to book trips and share their travel experiences.  They provide structure to the valuable social information that emerges, helping them connect with the information they need to plan trips and enjoy richer, more social travel experiences.  Gtrot already has partnerships with a few colleges around the states and will be adding over 50+ more by the end of this fall.

We had some really important updates for the coming weeks for TechZulu that Amanda touches base on in the opening of the show. TechZulu is heading off to BlogWorld and New Media Expo October 14-16 where we will be reporting live and bringing you some of the biggest names in the tech industry along with all the keynote sessions.  We will also be covering the new Sony Bloggie touch launch event this coming Tuesday.  If you happen to be in Los Angeles during the coming weekend and not be able to make it BlogWorld Startup Weekend will be happening over at Coloft and to register click here.

Amanda and Brittany go over a few tech news highlights of the weeks such as Apple iPad sales being predicted that they will double this holiday season.  Also, the new iPad rumored for release in first quarter of 2011 to sport a 7-inch screen and a micro or mini USB port.  GoogleTV and the new AppleTV are dueto be released this holiday season and how that may effect online video.  The latest news with Facebook this week and the big discussion of Facebook Groups.  Twitter’s new interface and how many people it will actually effect with user using applications like Hootsuite, Tweetdeck etc.

In this TechZulu Highlight Brittany goes over the story of Gtrot and how she came across her co-founder Zachary Smith.  Brittany discusses the issues of trying to go at it alone for the first time but then realizing that being an entrepreneur doesn’t mean you have to do everything on your own.  She began to seek out key advisors that could help her along the way and become immersed in the tech community and connected.  Brittany also gives a few tips for entrepreneurs who may be in New York or thinking about visiting or moving there, about where to find a great community and network of other startups and entrepreneurs.
