Free Labor From LA Scholars: Support LA’s Youth
This summer support LA’s youth by giving them the opportunity to work for your company. LAScholars is sponsored by the City of LA, the Mayor’s Office and backed by the Federal Government — a non-profit effort with the goal of creating career pathways for young adults into the media and video game industry. The program targets community college students in under-served neighborhoods by providing them training and access to some of the biggest entertainment and gaming companies in the world.
Employers are responsible for providing no more than 60 hours of supervised, meaningful on the job tasks (i.e., customer support, QA, production assistant, job shadowing, etc). They plan to place students at work-sites starting in August and work schedules can be flexible to accommodate work-site needs. Whether a company requests 1 intern or many, they can work with them to help them decide.
Remember, the program is at no cost to the employer and provides an opportunity to companies to prepare and test out their future potential workforce while investing in the people that live in their local communities in a potentially life changing way.
