Nevolution: Windows App Store Startup Closes $450K Angel Fundraising Round
Former Twiistup 8 Showoff (Click here to view their pitch and our review) and local Los Angeles Startup Nevolution, the startup that insists Mac, mobile phone and tablet users shouldn’t have all the fun when it comes to acquiring great software – has closed a $450,000 angel round to gear up for the launch of its Avenue(TM) Windows App Store service and private-label app store platform.
The round was led by Don Walerstein, founding partner of entertainment law firm Rohner & Walerstein, and included Los Angeles investor Bradley Maryman, founder and president of international security and technical consulting firm Maryman & Associates.
Currently in closed beta testing, the company’s “Avenue” client and online storefront offers consumers a quick and easy way to find, acquire and maintain Windows-based software on all types of PCs – from desktop computers to netbooks, tablets and other devices that lack traditional disk drives. At the same time, it offers software publishers of all sizes a uniquely efficient way to distribute their products. A licensed version of the platform will offer large software publishers, content creators and hardware manufacturers a turnkey solution to create their own private-label storefront.
Key features include “anywhere” access (software acquired via Avenue can be installed and maintained on multiple devices using a single account), a patent-pending hardware profiling feature that matches titles in the Avenue catalogue with a user’s hardware and operating system, and robust analytics that give publishers and licensing partners real-time usage stats. Avenue also handles a range of post-acquisition software management chores including installation and ongoing updates.
