I had a great time attending this years Southern California Code camp. I was fortunate to catch some great presentation  ranging from cobra to business intelligence.

While there i got to interview one of the organizers of the event Mark Rosenberg, and others. Unfortunately we had major tape problems so Marks interview was the only one that i was able to pull from.

During the interview mark gives us the heads up about how Code Camp is a new type of community event where developers learn from fellow developers. All are welcome to attend and speak.

The Code Camp Manifesto consists of six points:

  • by and for the developer community
  • always free
  • community developed material
  • no fluff – only code
  • community ownership
  • never occur during working hours

Sessions range from informal “chalk talks” to presentations. There will be a mix of presenters, some experienced folks, for some it may be their first opportunity to speak in public.

Make sure you get out to the next code camp if not to speak at to at least enjoy.
