Back in January of 2008 we learned that Amazon invested $4MM in the close out site Woot.  Today Woot announced that they will be acquired by Amazon and become independent subsidiary of Amazon.  According to Woot:

“Woot HQ will remain in Carrollton, Texas, and will operate as autonomously as other Amazon companies like Zappos and Audible. More details forthcoming after we pick our eyeballs up off of the floor. Anybody see where Lefty rolled off to?”

For those who may not know of Woot it is an online store and community that focuses on selling cool stuff cheap. It offers only one discounted product each day, often a piece of computer hardware or an electronic gadget. Other Woot sites offer one original t-shirt per day, two selections of wine per week, one children’s item per day, and one closeout deal per day.

Congrats to the Woot team.  You all have done a great job in the deal-per-day/close out market.
