Tech Scene LA-Style
Last night’s DFR was off the hook; for anyone who couldn’t attend, it was a delight seeing the LA tech-set getting together in a massive way. We have footage coming next week for those that missed the live stream. Anytime you can have the Web 1.0 suits get together w/the Web 2.0 jeans & t-shirt crowd, you have a good social tech goulash going.
One manager I met (who shall go nameless) also works for a large search engine/portal company with an office in LA and had spent the day laying off and saying goodbye to friends and colleagues. While I could tell this person was obviously affected from the experience, I could also tell they were buoyed by the event and the atmosphere. Indeed, bringing the tech slackers, the deal makers and the just plain tech-curious, a new community is formed.
TechZulu Coming At You in 2008, 2009
With the year already starting to close, everyone gets thoughtful of the year that just passed and what is in store for the future. It’s not only natural but downright healthy to be self-reflective. We are also putting together our plans for 2009.
I got a challenge last night from Efren Toscano, our CEO here at TechZulu. We are about to turn on the spigot of awesome content here at TZ in the first months of 2009 and he challenged me to get started by writing every day through the end of this year. To keep you, the reader, and myself interested, please email me w/your story requests/suggestions and/or compliments/complaints! alex [at] techzulu [dot] com
If you are in LA Thursday night (and probably Friday morning)
I’m not actually supposed to tell you about this, it’s all hush-hush, but check back later for some very cool happenings to wrap up the year with the TechZulu crew. I can’t reveal the details but I can say reserve this Thursday night for a party night. Also, um, you may want to get some breath freshner and your best Idol audition tape – ok, scratch that last one.
