Buzztone Can Get Your Social Apps Talking
Over the past few months, there has been a tremendous amount of buzz talking about social media. As an entrepreneur, I hear about this term bounced around a lot and even I might not feel comfortable with this new buzz term just yet. But Techzulu’s Amanda Coolong, sat down with Liz Heller, CEO of Buzztone at last month’s Social Media Business School event for a one-on-one conversation. For those of you who haven’t heard of Buzztone, Liz started during the start of the first internet bubble. Her company helps market their proucts in the non-traditional space of marketing other than print ads. In this interview, Liz talks about the business of developing web applications for social sites such as Facebook, Myspace and Bebo. The buzz surrounding social media has transcended into conference discussions, organizations to even consultants in this new space. In this interview, Liz covers some of the chatter about social media and how her company can help clear up 2008’s buzz term. Now, if you’re like me and would like to get a firmer grip on social media before listening to this interview, let’s try to define it first. By definition from Wikipedia:
Social media is an umbrella term that defines the various activities that integrate technology, social interaction, and the construction of words, pictures, videos and audio. This interaction, and the manner in which information is presented, depends on the varied perspectives and “building” of shared meaning among communities, as people share their stories, and understandings.
In plain english, social media is people in the tech space trying to figure out how to mash up all this web 2.0 technology online into a more meaningful environment. For example, now that there’s a plethora of social networking sites on the net, what do we do now? There is an upcoming event posted on the Upcoming site on another topic about social media by Social Media Club LA. Enjoy the interview with Liz Heller.
