The Dealmaker Media L.A. Mixer event was so successful that it might have just opened the flood gates for more great things to come. The atmosphere had all the ingredients for the deal making. If you wanted to find out who’s who in the tech industry or getting the first introduction to a VC, this event was where you wanted to be. Normally at most events, entrepreneurs and developers scours around looking for people with money but generally wound up only with a few new business cards to add to their address book, but no one that can fund your project. However, this was not the case at Dealmaker Media L.A. The money for funding was definitely there and ideas were pitched to VCs like it was American Idol.

The event was kicked off by a Speed Date event at Michael Ovitz’s office, where 20 companies were selected to give a 5 minute pitch to a panel of potential investors and VCs followed by the main event, the Mixer, held at Clearstone Venture’s office in Santa Monica. Over 300 startups, big media, tech execs, and VC’s were in attendance.

Techzulu and CBNC were there to cover the event. CNBC featured the event on Power Lunch the following day. Techzulu was there to represent the Southern California Tech Community to get key interviews from people that you should know in the industry. Some of the important people that we were able to snatch interviews with were Debbie Landa, CEO of Dealmaker Media, and the sponsors of the event, Bill Elkus, the Founder and Managing Director of Clearstone Ventures. Check out the individual interviews here.

The next Dealmaker Media L.A. event is “Startup Lab” on April 14th at GRP Ventures.
