Yes, it’s official: we have been in recession since December of last year. It’s also official that people want to spend their holiday season having fun anyway. For City of Industry-based Newegg, 2008 is just another growth year.
According to Newegg.com vice president of marketing and merchandising Bernard Luthi, “We view market downturns as opportunities to grow our customer base”. The company recorded a year over year same day increase in the dollar value of orders taken of more than 169% and actual orders increased by 193% year over year, and the number of buyers more than tripled compared to last year’s Black Friday. With sales like that, no wonder the company is bullish for the future.
The best part of a company doing well during a downtown is the opportunity for consumers to take advantage. Apparently, more deals will be coming in the weeks ahead. Maybe now is your time to get that quadruple-booting machine, robot cleaner or USB coffee warmer after all.
