There’s no question of the monstrous boom in popularity and success of ‘Deal of the Day’ business models, and for good reason, due to a volatile world-wide economic climate. But with continuing success of mega coupon giants like Groupon and Living Social, we can infer that consumers are still willing to enjoy themselves and spend money, but would prefer to be thrifty and keep costs down. But what about for night life? It can’t be the most impressive thing in the world to take a beautiful date out for a night on the town and slap down a crinkled up printout from your email inbox, prominently displaying your thrifty ways. Might work for some, but probably not all. Especially in LA.

3D Movies, 3D Printing, 3D Televisions, 3DS, our entire screen world is turning 3D and now its time for your mobile screen to get in on the fun. LG 4G Thrill is one of the first mobile devices in the United States to have 3D viewing capabilities without the glasses.  It was first introduced earlier this year at CTIA where LG announced that the 4G Thrill was going to be available on AT&T for $99.99.  Over the past few weeks I’ve been carrying the LG Thrill 4G around everywhere.

Chill.com, from the makers of Namesake, is a video community sharing platform. After you sign up for an account, super easy if you have a Facebook account, you are taken to a page with available lounges for you to view video. You can also create your own lounge. Each lounge has its own theme based on the videos being shown. Everything from hip hop music videos to entertainment news and gossip, there is sure to be a lounge to suit your taste. I had a chance to interview Brian Norgard, founder of Chill.com.

Startup Weekend, a global grassroots network of entrepreneurs and leaders, announced an initiative in partnership with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation that will lead to the creation of vibrant startup communities in cities across the nation. Called the Startup Foundation, the program is a grassroots initiative that helps cities build and establish ecosystems that will support more high-growth entrepreneurs, startups, and ultimately, jobs.
