Bigger, clearer, and thinner is how we like our televisions and monitors to be.  But, with every gain there is always a loss.  In this case its the speaker systems that come standard with our television or non-existent in the case of a monitor.  Causing us to spend more money on a surround sound system just to get a decent sound from them.

In comes Emo Labs.  The Emo in Emo Labs stands for Edge Motion.  What edge motion does is turns your entire screen into a speaker system.  The speakers actuate a thin

membrane along the side of the screen in a manner that creates a piston-like motion in front.  Winners of a DEMOgod award as well as a $500,000 prize in advertising Emo Labs had to be one of the biggest fan favorites at DEMO 2009.  These guys are truly going to change the way televisions and monitors are going to be made.

Now this isn’t something the general consumer will be able to get a hold of.  They are going to be selling the technology to companies like Sony, Samsung, etc.  According to Jason they imagine it being a small upsale on the price, something in the area of 10% increase.  Lets just hope that really happens and it doesn’t end up being a 50% increase, because I can’t wait to get my hands on some product with this tech built-in.
