This is a guest post written by Mike Macadaan, Founder of Twiistup

Thanks for the opportunity to reach the TechZulu crowd.  We’ve partnered with TechZulu because we know they’ll capture all of the interesting things that happen in and around our fourth event.  They’ve also produced a killer video here showing clips from some of our previous events.  Great job.

So here we go with Twiistup 4.  If you’ve been to one of our previous events then you might appreciate some of the changes we’ve made for this one.  The first big change is that it’s being held outside by pools, er, glass covered pools (with an underwater light show of course).  This was a call we made so that it would be easier to hold a conversation without the competing thumps from music bouncing off of the walls in the nightclub.  Don’t get me wrong, still love the nightclub thing but it does become challenging to talk and hear.  The next change is the capacity.  Our last event was sold out at 300 and we had 300 on the waiting list.  That sucked.  The challenge for this one was to increase the capacity without reaching that point where there’s too many people.  The Viceroy allows us to double the capacity to 600.  This may turn out to be too many but that’s the beauty of being able to experiment.  We chose the Viceroy because we felt this was an ideal location and we love their attention to design detail.

Not everything has changed for this Twiistup.  Of course we’re going to have our featured Showoffs and have a competition where the crowd will vote on Best Showoff.  The winning Showoff will receive a cool prize package designed for small companies (includes 1:1 consultation with GrowThink, iconic line of Skype certified hardware by IPEVO and more).  In addition to the Showoffs we’re also going to have some cool activities for our attendees.  GirlGamer is hosting our 80’s inspired arcade complete with classic games and Steve Wiebe from ‘King of Kong, Fistful of Quarters’ playing for the high score on Donkey Kong.  Etchstar will be providing free laser engraving on mobile devices, laptops, moleskines, etc.  We’re going to have the ‘Schwaggin Wagon Reuse Station’ and a contest to re-purpose, reuse, and rework your favorite schwag.  Our killer lineup of Sponsors also have some cool things in store as well.

So that’s where things stand.  I hope you have a ticket and if not stay tuned to Twiistup.com and the Twiistup Facebook group for a couple more ways to win a pass.  Thanks again to TechZulu for publishing killer content that gives the world an opportunity to see all of the awesomeness coming out of SoCal.  Can’t wait to see you all on the 17th, and check out the awesome video below:
