This weekend, February 22-24th, will be your chance to attend UCLA Anderson School of Management’s 42 hour Developers Contest, hosted at ROC in Santa Monica. UCLA’s ASM has partnered with Microsoft, Nokia, WIX, Yahoo! and more to bring a true hack-a-thon to Silicon Beach, helping substantiate Southern California’s thriving Tech Community.
The details of this event are quite amazing. With over $10K in cash prizes, Microsoft Surface Tablets and Nokia’s Lumia phones being offered, we know there are going to be some serious DEV Teams arriving to show off their software building prowess. The contest theme is Travel and is open to apps on any platform, meaning you’ll be seeing new Windows, Mac, Android and iOS software being created before your eyes.
Teams will be comprised of between 1 and 4 people and teams get to keep the code to anything they build. What we find exciting is that the hack space will be open all night, and whereas ASM “strongly encourages participants to sleep…”, we know not everyone will be taking that advice. Considering that the 1st place cash prize is $3000, we are fairly certain teams will have more than one person coding at a time.
