Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Can Bring New Life To The Series
Yes I know what you may be thinking “Not another Castlevania game!” and I was thinking exactly that as well. It seemed as if the only Castlevania games worth playing were on the Nintendo DS which were following the same formula as the last super successful Castlevania title ‘Symphony Of The Night’. Which was published by Konami in 1997 for the original Playstation console. However, I had a chance to play ‘‘Castlevania: Lords of Shadow’ at E3 2010 on the expo floor and wow was I surprised!
Starting the demo off in a small rainy village, you are walked through a few control basics. As I went through them the controls were beginning to resemble a game I previously played and said to myself, “Dante’s Inferno!” that’s what this felt like. If you haven’t played ‘Dante’s Inferno’ then you might be familiar with the ‘God of War’ series which has similar game controls. I happened to enjoy both of those games and now mashing the game controls with the Castlevania story I was thrilled.
Although, still in its development I have high hopes for this title. Some areas graphically weren’t as pleasing as others but like I said still in development. The violence and gore that you would hope to expect from a game like this was all there. One of my favorite parts of the demo was a sequence were a giant werewolf jumps straight for you and right before you think its all over you pick up a wooden post and impale the beast. Yeah, it was that awesome.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is shaping up to be a great game. If you are a fan of the series and but have been a bit disappointed from the late console releases, this one (so far) looks to be the one we have been waiting for. There is no specific release date but late 2010 was announced.
In this part of the demo you are fighting off a few smaller werewolves in the rainy village.
