Funny or Die Launches New Design and Better Ad Opportunities

Comedic startup site Funny or Die has announced a new design that adds new content and features to the site.  The updated design gives fans more comedy, and more kinds of content including themed photo galleries, top 10 lists, and special guest blogs. The redesign also gives advertisers a larger presence on the homepage and more in-video opportunities across the site.

According to CEO Dick Glover:

“Our new design reflects how far we’ve come at Funny Or Die.  We’ve grown beyond the top comedy website to become a best-of-breed digital studio producing content for all major distribution channels.  And, along the way we’ve become sustainably profitable.”

The site has gone beyond the internet and into mainstream with its HBO show called “Funny or Die Presents,” which premiered back in February 2010.  The series has done well enough that it will continue for another season which is currently in production.  In addition, Comedy Central recently ordered “Jon Benjamin Has A Van,” a new comedy series set to premiere in summer 2011. Funny Or Die will also present its first movie in 2011 as well.

Expanding their production service offerings to advertising clients, Funny or Die is building branded entertainment campaigns.  Creating campaigns that combine brand advertising and viral video.  A few example campaigns include the Axe Comedy Tour, Cottonelle, Mini Cooper, Pepsi Brisk, Sony’s “The Other Guys,” Travel Channel, Edge, Paramount’s “Dinner for Schmucks,” and others.

The site averages over 7 million unique users per month and over 24 million video views per month.  Currently Funny Or Die has about 1.5 million Twitter followers and 1.2 million Facebook fans.  Considering that the site was started just over 3 years ago they have come a long way and had great success.  I’m sure having a few huge comedians behind it helped out some as well ;)
