Piryx launched a new product at DEMOfall 2009 a few weeks ago billed as “payments for the social web”.  Piryx is a Social Commerce company. With the combination of payment processing and marketing tools, to give businesses and non-profits the capability to identify and connect with their customers, and donors.

Their new product key features is the developer API’s.  They aim to be customizable and hope outside developers use their API’s to build out a supportive apps section.  They are competing with some heavy hitters in the space like Paypal and Google Checkout so their openness and customizability tools might give them the edge they need not necessarily to take over but to at least be a competitor.  They also have a deep knowledge of the power of social media and integration with the social web.
