Teneros: Keeping A Watchful Eye On Social Networks For Employers
Social networks have come a long way in the workplace. For a lot of companies gone are the days of blocking access to them and now encourage their employees to talk about their products and/or services. However, nothing comes without a price. At times slip ups do happen from employees and important information can get loose, impacting the company in a negative way. Because of accidents like these companies have now been trying to develop different ways of monitoring their employees. Chances are it became the job of a HR personnel trying to manage hundreds of public streams from Facebook and Twitter. One company aims to make this as simple a process as possible.
Teneros has come out with a new software called Social Sentry. What this application does is it monitors Facebook and Twitter accounts of all employees within a company. But it does not just search everything an employee says. An employer inserts a set of keywords for Teneros to monitor and when someone within the company triggers a keyword the company gets notified and can inspect further. Currently Teneros is charging a fee of $2 to $8 per employee. But considering the time they will save by not having to manually keep track of their employees this isn’t much. Facebook and Twitter are the two networks they are able to monitor currently, however, they are planning on adding YouTube, LinkedIn and Myspace very soon.
We caught up with Christina Del Villar of Teneros to give us an overview of the product as well as what are some of the biggest problems some company have with sensitive information.
What do you think of software like Social Sentry? If you are a business owner or an employee we would love to hear each side of the story.
