The King of Kong himself Steve Wiebe and Seth Gordon (Director) speaks to TechZulu about the story of Steve’s accomplishment.  Steve is a math and science teacher at Finn Hill Junior High, a school in Kirkland, Washington. Wiebe was the first ever to achieve over a million points in the arcade game Donkey Kong and has the second-highest score (1,049,100) ever reported. Billy Mitchell retook the title on June 26, 2007 with 1,050,200 points. Wiebe also holds the top score record in Donkey Kong Junior (on a “Double Donkey Kong Boardset”) with 1,004,000.

Steve has a few offers, one most recently by a man in Texas to come out and attempt the record for a grand total of $10K if he gets the high score.  Steve says if you really want to become a great gamer, just “pick a game you love. If you have passion for it, stick with it and be the best you can be.  Also, balance it with your home life.”

Although his kids may just see him as dad, all the gamers out there see him as one of the gaming gods we love.
