With over 150,000 people drawn to Austin in this year’s SXSW only one was crowned as one of the most photographed woman in the festival. Nope it wasn’t selfie queen Kim K. West, it wasn’t even the first lady, Michelle Obama, who graced the stage as a keynote speaker, actually it wasn’t even a human being. The title goes to Sophia, the beautiful and brilliant humanoid robot created by Hanson Robotics.

Radiolab, and former Groupon founder and CEO, and now Detour founder, Andrew Mason have been in town collaborating on an immersive Austin audio walking tour that will debut at SXSW 2015. The Detour app that launched last month takes the team’s expert storytelling skills and translates them into reality through voices, music, and ambiance.
To cap off our 6th year at SXSW and follow up on last year’s amazingly successful Trend Lounge, we knew this year had to be bigger, better, more engaging, and of course, even more fun. As we know, long gone are the days of experiencing SXSW Interactive with just 9,000 other tech entrepreneurs and business brights – with 30,000 registrants in 2013 and the final numbers for 2014 still in the works.
Today, we have Vince Leung, co-founder and operating CTO of MentorMob. After a successful run through NYC-based Kaplan Edtech accelerator program (powered by Techstars), the team at MentorMob have been gearing up for a 2014 re-launch; same MentorMob name, but as Vince tells us, with a more community-based focus (don’t worry, a little more on that later).
For the first time in SXSW history, young group of entrepreneurs are being celebrated for their accomplishments and have been invited to be on a panel to discuss and share their insight on problem solving, social consciousness, and making the world a better place. The panel will take place on Saturday, March 9th at the Hilton Garden Inn at 1:30pm. Organized by Blacks in Tech (BiT), a coalition of targeted technology organizations and industry thought leaders and in collaboration with fabricatedby.me, SXSW welcomes five intelligent kids with stories of remarkable success.
