A Futurist Conference, AI & The Singularity will be held this Saturday, September 20, from 9:30am-5:00pm at Piedmont Veterans Hall, 401 Highland Avenue, in Piedmont, California. The event is co-produced by Peter Voss of AGI Innovation Inc., Anya Petrova of FuturismX and Hank Pellissier of Brighter Brains Institute.

If you haven’t noticed yet, Apple decided to shove U2′s album down your throat. And I’m not exaggerating! Ok..maybe a little. But seriously, go check. Depending on how your iCloud is setup, their latest album will most likely be in your Music app, ready to play or in the ether of your iCloud, available to download.

This month, Siemer and Associates hosted its 4th Annual invitation-only Silicon Beach Summit at Casa Del Mar and Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica, California. The event attracted over 500 distinguished attendees from around the world in the digital media and technology industry including advertising, media, data, eCommerce, software, social and gaming.

The 17th Annual Milken Institute Global Conference wrapped up last month at the luxurious Beverly Hilton Hotel. The event was surreal in that everywhere you turned, you would’ve recognized a person with the influence, power, and motivation to have a big impact on improving the lives of those in need.

Many of us get that itch of becoming an entrepreneur. We get that spark in us, that light bulb idea that brings us into our dream world, day-dreaming and wondering, “What if?” What if we had a chance to actually build the next hot tech company? What if we find the right team with the right chemistry to build it? What if we get affirmation and validation from not only our peers, but from experts and maybe even potential investors that our ideas really have some legs in becoming something?

SoCal Code Camp is at it again, getting together an amazing pool of experts to speak in front of fellow developers and developers-in-training here in Los Angeles. The event runs for two days from November 9th to 10th on the USC campus. This fun conference will have over 85 sessions on various technologies including Web Development, Mobile, Ruby , Javascript and more. And it’s not just strictly coding, they will also have a few sessions dedicated to Design and even Project Management.

As the NBA playoffs closes to an end in a grueling road to Game 7 between Miami Heats and San Antonio Spurs, it would behoove every startup founder to learn from key elements and strategies of both teams, as lessons from the sport of basketball can directly translate to the success of a startup company.

Last week, the E3 Gaming Conference razzled and dazzled Los Angeles as attendees hobnobbed with top executives in the industry, tried out new consoles and platforms, took photo ops with cool displays like the reconstructed boat from Wind Waker, the green screen for Splinter Cell or Tanks of World of Tanks, and explored the latest and most realistic virtual worlds created by top game developers. There is certainly a lot to cover but I’ll just mention a few highlights.

With the E3 Expo wrapping up, SGN announced early this morning the acquisition of Mob Science further expanding its game portfolio and development team. SGN is the priemere cross-platform mobile game developer founded by MySpace Co-Founder Chris DeWolfe, delivering highly entertaining and engaging titles to millions of users around the world. Mob Science will join in the ranks of prior acquisitions including Hallpass Media and Mindjolt all under the strong and successful SGN umbrella.

On Monday, May 6th, 2013 hackers are invited to attend the first Hacker Zazen event. Presented by Codewars and Cross Campus, this monthly gathering has been organized to attract a mastermind of hackers to share ideas and write code.
