TechZulu gets some questions answered for all you marketing folks out there. Patrick Starzan is the Vice President of Marketing and Business development at Funny or Die. He is a marketing professional with over 8 years of extensive online and social media marketing experience. Patrick is the man behind all the marketing aspects of what could be called one of the funniest sites on the web. He gives up the goods and a few tips on what you could do to help market your company.

A number of web services has popped up in recent years that has helped cater to people with busy lives. Zipments is a web service that connects your delivery needs with couriers in your area. I recently spoke with Laura Pecherski and asked her a few questions about Zipments.

When tickets went on sale over a month ago, we expected the regular ticket sales cycle, however we were more than surprised when Startup Weekend LA sold out in 6 hours! That’s right… just about the same amount of time it takes to sell out a Radiohead show at the Forum. When LASW kicked off Friday evening at Coloft, we had over 100 on the wait list and countless requests from others to join the event — even folks sneaking in and pitching (without a ticket).

Last Friday, about 80 business leaders assembled at the Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica, CA, for CallFire’s first ever “un-conference” called Biz2Beach. The invitation-only attendees included founders, business development leaders, and marketing directors from companies big and small, including NBCUniversal, Mobclix, DDB Los Angeles, Airpush, adly, Mobile Roadie, Disney Animation Studios, BetterWorks, and more.

That’s right folks, we are now just a day away from Los Angeles Startup Weekend held at Coloft in Santa Monica. The February Startup Weekend was stated that it was “The Best Los Angeles Startup Weekend (LASW)” ever, now I have a hunch that this upcoming LASW will surpass it in awesome. Based on the fact that this Startup Weekend was SOLD OUT in a just a few hours.

When you were a kid it was cool to take every poster from your favorite band and cover your bedroom walls. You probably collected every cool tee shirt, button and signed album you could get your hands on from concerts. Don’t forget those all-nighters in front of your local ticket master.

Join TechZulu and Digital LA’s panel on live streaming! And guess what?!? Yup, that’s right! TechZulu will be there to stream it all for your viewing pleasure starting at 7:30pm PST. The panel of experts will discuss when to stream (events, premieres, concerts, weekly live shows), technical setup (bandwidth, cameras, etc), getting the word out to increase views, distribution channels, and measures of success.

RescueTime, the makers of a web-based time management tool, has come up with another service aimed to help companies find potential new employees. Touted as the “CarFax report for potential new employees”, RescueTime Introductions promises not to find a candidate that is 100% perfect for a position. Rather, it narrows down the field to a number of potential hires based on a broad range of factors.

Let’s face it, a lot of us working professionals are extremely busy these days. Long hours at the office, quick work out at the gym and a few errands before stores close and before you know it, you haven’t eaten yet. Or you meet up with friends for some drinks after work and didn’t get a chance to pick up your clothes from the dry cleaners.
