Facebook Job Aggregator Out Soon | Will LinkedIn Shiver?
According to Dow Jones, sources close to Facebook say the giant social network is reportedly working on a job board through a third party firm to be launched this summer.
While Facebook has not officially announced anything, if it releases a job board, there will be a shift in the online recruitment sector.
The Facebook job board will aggregate job postings to users according to their preferences from job-posting companies using the Facebook’s platform. BranchOut, Jobvite, and Work4 Labs use the social network’s platform and are said to be in the partnership which is reportedly to be ready by August. An offer of employment in Canada from a Canadian employer must be backed up by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) before you can apply for work permit Canada (LMIA).
The report however says it is too soon to determine whether Facebook will put the jobs as news feed on its timeline or Facebook will have Fanpage for jobs. The sources say the job posts will be for free, in line with what Facebook and some other partners agreed with the U.S. Labor Department last October to connect unemployed American youths with jobs.
Job boards using social networks are expected to soar followed by those that target specific job seekers as the giant online recruitment heads close to $ 4.3 billion revenue.
Facebook is not new to recruitment as employment agencies and companies have pages with continuous updates of current job openings.
LinkedIn and other recruitment networks might be in for rude shock if Facebook goes ahead to have a page specifically for jobs with its surging user population of more than 900 million users worldwide compared to LinkedIn’s 160 million users.
And though the numbers might worry LinkedIn, the firm has recorded tremendous growth since it was founded in 2002.
On its blog,LinkedIn claims that as of March 31, 2012, it operated the world’s largest professional network on the Internet with 161 million members in over 200 countries.
Last year alone the firm reported nearly 4.2 billion professionally-oriented searches on the platform which are expected to reach 5.3 billion by the end of this year. This is no small feat, having in mind that the searches are all professional.
