There was that one night…or was it another night? You just remember you met someone nice and had a great time with. But you can’t seem to remember the details. Wouldn’t it be great if there was an app for that? I mean it’s tough to carry a black leather book in todays “fashionable” tight jeans. So good news there is an app out there! Meet today’s “little black book,” an updated, digital book that keeps track of one’s most private affairs.

Apps are quickly becoming a ubiquitous part of life. From the phone in your pocket to the television hanging on your wall, apps have penetrated technology and they aren’t going anywhere. Smart technology doesn’t work without clever software to make it useful.

I absolutely love attending events and shows at Club Nokia. The theater is well ventilated, the floor space is spacious, and the view is good from almost every angle of the room. But most importantly, it has a sound system that shakes your body to the core like it were the end of days and tears your face off with no apologies … so I couldn’t be more excited about returning, but this time, for something a little different. Something a little off the wall from the music acts Club Nokia often hosts. Introducing leetUP, a new live event series designed to share and celebrate ultimate geekdom; a toast to the unlikely, a showcase for all things nerd culture with strong dashes of technology, arts, lifestyle, and comedy thrown in.

It’s often referred to as Spring Break for Geeks, and for good reason. I’m talking, of course, about South by Southwest (SXSW), Austin’s annual film and music festival that in recent years added an interactive component. It’s the place where geeks go to cut loose, share their knowledge, test new concepts and network like crazy.

This year’s South By South West conference in Austin, Texas, is days away. The excitement is buzzing around communities everywhere and the event invites are pouring in. However something special is happening this year. Los Angeles’s very own Espree Devora (aka The Girl That Gets It Done), has put together quite the exciting event for this year’s SXSW conference.

It’s that time of year again ladies and gentlemen. We’ve been talking about it all week. Giving you tips and tricks to guide you towards the winner circle. Well, it’s time. Time for Startup Weekend LA. So put on your thinking caps and get ready to be closing.

We’ve all become so used to having Microsoft in our lives that we’ve started to take their products and services for granted. We don’t think about how much Microsoft does to make our lives easier, especially at work. However, Microsoft is behind the scenes at most businesses – both large and small – enabling them to operate more efficiently and grow more quickly.

Fanzila, a startup that makes it easy to turn your Facebook pages into mini websites with blogs, contests, photo galleries and more, has just added “Contact Us,” “About Us,” and RSS apps to its offering. But what’s more noteworthy is how Fanzila is spreading the word.

With Startup Weekend EDU happening just around the corner in the Bay Area this weekend, we at TechZulu thought those participating might find this infographic of the use preparing for the event. If you’re not apart of the Startup Weekend EDU event, you may still find the Q1 2012 report interesting, especially if you’re looking to…continue reading.

It’s always nice to have a map in hand when going backpacking through the mountains. Without a map it’s easy to get lost. Just like backpacking through the mountains, startup competitions such as Startup Weekend can be difficult without some guidance.
