TechZulu is excited for the coming #TZWeek at the end of April. We will be taking you for a tour of the LA Tech Scene. Starting off in Santa Monica at ROC for a fireside chat with CBS Interactive, then heading to Westwood at UCLA for Spotlight: LA Tech, and ending at NextSpace / Amplify LA in Venice for TechZulu Final Friday.
To begin our recap of last week’s winter TZ Spotlight, we’d like to say our list of thank yous. Thank you to the supporters who told their colleagues and friends about the event, to our attendees for the attention towards the center of the room, to our supporting sponsors, our Spotlight judges, and to Bill Gross, our inspirational keynote speaker for the evening.
The time has finally arrived! Months of submissions and the amazing help from our judges, the Spotlight is shinning down on awesome companies that were born right out of Southern California. For those who still might be wondering what Spotlight: LA Tech is all about, It’s a screening room for new technology homegrown in our region. It’s a gallery of great entrepreneurship. It’s a toast to those who build and innovate. It’s a gathering of friends and tech enthusiasts of all stripes.
I know you all have been dying to know who the Spotlight: LA Tech Winter SuperDemo is going to be. We have been holding off on this announcement for quite a bit and now we can officially announce Bill Gross of Idealab as our SuperDemo presenter. Always looking to provide the very best for our community so that you may learn and grow as a startup or entrepreneur, Bill Gross is one of the best experts we could provide.
TechZulu and The California Institute of Technology (Caltech) are pleased to announce Spotlight: LA Tech Winter. Spotlight: LA Tech is part of a quarterly demo series that will highlight the finest technology entrepreneurship in Southern California. We’re looking for companies with new technology to demonstrate (or better yet, those with upcoming launches they wish to promote among savvy peers).
In this interview, we catch up with an amazing TechZulu Spotlight alumnus, Joey Flores, CEO of Earbits, a hand-curated music discovery engine that allows its bands and artists to advertise and promote their own material, events, announcements, contests, whatever. Earbits provides value to the listeners with awesome new music without non-pertinent commercials about California cheese, car insurance, or whatever; and provides value to the musicians by giving them an additional voice.
Many thanks to everyone who participated in last night’s Spotlight: LA Tech at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. In addition to the 330+ students, entrepreneurs and investors in attendance, the event also achieved over 45,000 views on the TechZulu live stream. If you missed it, or simply want to relive the moment, check out the rebroadcast above.
